Laboratory Manager

The Laboratory Manager has the responsibility to:

  • Coordinate and direct the activities of laboratory to support the manufacturing and quality systems. 
  • Ensure laboratory personnel are qualified and competent to perform job functions. 
  • Monitor various metrics to ensure systems are working properly and personnel are adequately resourced to meet laboratory and manufacturing plant objectives. 
  • Ensure personnel working and entering into the lab are trained and aware the of necessary safety precautions (i.e. PPE, SDS binders, chemical and mixing hazards)
  • Responsible for review and explanation of data generated within reason and/or delegating to appropriate subject matter expert. 
  • Work with management to incorporate strategic initiatives.

As a member of the management team, the Laboratory Manager will:

  • Perform managerial duties including scheduling, prioritizing, hiring, training, timecard review, performance evaluation, and disciplinary action.
  • Create departmental budget and maintain budget conformance
  • Recommends changes in policies and procedures to management that will enhance the lab’s ability to meet directives and regulations. 
  • Notifies and recommends to management course of action when critical instruments, systems, or processes are found to be out of specification. 
  • Provide technical consulting services to clients as needed.
  • Participate in regulatory and client audits as necessary.

Essential Functions:

  • Participate in regulatory and client audits as necessary.
  • Helps to maintains laboratory in a compliant manner by assisting with cleaning, inventory, calibration, training
  • Ensures all data and test results are reviewed for completeness, correctness and compliance with various regulatory requirements.

You possess the following qualifications, background and abilities:

  • Bachelors of Science required (Min. 10 yrs experience) or Masters of Science (Min. 7 yrs experience) or Ph.D (5 yrs experience) 
  • Applicant should have hands on experience working in a QC and/or R&D laboratory setting adhering to cGMP guidelines
  • Prefer 3-5 years supervisory and/or management experience
  • Will need to have hands on training and experience with HPLC, GC, and other wet chemistry testing.
