    • Payroll Responsibilities
    • • Processes payroll, which includes ensuring changes are appropriately entered into the payroll system, setting up new hires, terminating employees and processing payroll reports. Assures accurate use of employee time off and is primary contact for time off issues and questions.
    • • Balances and reviews each payroll for accuracy. Strives to achieve accurate and error-free payroll processing.
    • • Acts as the primary contact for employees and managers for payroll related issues. Acts as a technical resource to Human Resources and other departments to address and resolve inquiries and problems, and to provide accurate, meaningful and timely analysis of payroll information.
    • • Directs compilation and preparation of other payroll data such as 401(k) and insurance payments.
    • • Works with vendor and/or administers state and federal reporting requirements in such areas as FUTA, SUI and welfare plan reporting.
    • • Interprets company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures.
    • • Creates and implements work procedures for maximum efficiency and accuracy.
    • • Manages the contract with the payroll service provider, ensuring contract compliance and accurate and timely deliverables.
    • • Maintains all payroll records, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and satisfactory review by the external auditors.
    • • Develops and produces all required and requested payroll reports, ensuring accurate, meaningful and timely information.
  •         . Benefits Administration

    • Administers medical, dental, disability, retirement and flexible spending benefit programs.
    • Maintains all records related to company benefit plans and compliance with applicable laws.
    • Reviews monthly billing for payment, sending information to appropriate vendors, and making changes as needed.
    • Provides input on the design of the benefits package to ensure that programs are current, competitive and in compliance with legal requirements
    • Prepares documents, announcements, and other materials used to communicate new payroll and/or benefit procedures to employees. Conducts new employee benefit orientation and assists in new hire orientations. Participates in preparing materials for new hire benefit communication materials and annual enrollment materials.
    • Advises employees regarding benefit issues, eligibility for insurance and coverage.
    • Coordinates with payroll/HRIS provider to ensure a smooth annual benefit enrollment process.
    • Responsible for retirement plan administration and billing for 401(k) plan.
    • Assures company compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and Affordable Care Act (ACA) requirements. Ensures compliance with HR team and outside vendors.
    • Reviews and analyzes changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits, and reports necessary or suggested changes to management.
    • Develops benefit information and statistical and census data for actuaries, insurance carriers, and management.
    • Coordinates retirement plans audit and other benefits audits with outside vendor.

You possess the following qualifications, background and abilities;

Education:

Bachelors degree in business, HR or related field or equivalent experience strongly preferred. Plus ongoing payroll/HRIS education.

Certifications:   Payroll certification preferred; HR certification desired.

Experience: Required: 5+ years of related experience in payroll and benefit administration

                    Experience with large payroll,multi-state, multiple FEINs and time and attendance systems required; ADP                       Workforce Now experience preferred

                    Experience with MS Office products, particularly Excel, required
