Microbiology Technician - Tampa

We are seeking a highly-motivated Microbiology Technician to join our Quality Control Team!

Performs the daily environmental monitoring activities for the 503A cleanrooms. This includes taking the samples, entering the test data, and controlling the test plates throughout the testing process. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. HOURS ARE 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, M - F.

  • Performs environmental monitoring of 503A cleanroom and anteroom areas (viable air, viable surface) and personnel monitoring
  • Incubate, read, and document all microbiological plate results
  • Assists in preparing and shipping samples for microbial identification
  • Performs endotoxin testing of raw materials and finished products as needed
  • Supports sterilization processes with biological indicators, read, and document results accordingly
  • Maintains inventory of lab supplies, stock, and order consumables
  • Use of standard laboratory equipment including microscope, incubator, hot plates, and pipettes
  • Performs duties in accordance with established policies & procedures for the storage, testing & handling of microbial test samples
  • May perform additional laboratory tests under direction of Microbiology Supervisor
  • Reads and trains on all required SOP’s and review completed documentation for quality completeness and company compliance
  • Cleans QA/Microbiology laboratory work areas
  • Performs laboratory duties in a manner consistent with company policy
  • Wears gowning, sterile garments, and PPE as required by specific activities
  • Alerts Manager/Supervisor when problems occur which deviate from Standard Operating Procedure
  • Must be proficient in the use of computers and applications such as databases, worksheets (Excel) and word processing (Word)
  • Work must be accurate, legible and error free
  • Performs record keeping of test results and movement of testing samples in accordance with established procedures
  • Assists with data entry and trend analysis activities
  • Observes facility clean room personnel to assure compliance to company standard operating procedures and aseptic techniques
  • Works with Microbiology Supervisor and any other personnel needed to ensure quality system and environmental monitoring programs are implemented completely

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE :

  • Associate Degree in Life Sciences + 1 year laboratory experience
  • Preferred: 4-year Degree in Biology/Microbiology or related science
  • Ability to communicate and work well with others, good oral and written skills
  • Excellent aseptic technique
  • Familiar with microbiological testing techniques concerning product testing
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel
