Accounting Clerk (temp to hire)

This is a temp to hire position based in our Austin, Texas office.  It will provide financial, administrative and clerical support to the Accounting Manager by processing and reconciling invoices and expenses as well as executing cash applications according to established policies and procedures in an efficient, timely and accurate manner.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Match purchase orders to invoices and enter invoices into ERP
  • Reconcile processed work to ensure that ledger entries support G/L balances
  • Charge expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports and recording entries
  • Execute full cycle cash applications, including issuing payments to vendors as well as receiving payments from customers
  • Process expense reimbursements for employees and code to correct G/L accounts
  • Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements
  • Report sales taxes by calculating requirements on paid invoices
  • Maintain repository of processed invoices
  • Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential
  • Maintain W-9 Repository and issue 1099s annually
  • Assist with periodic 3rd party audits by providing supporting documentation and responding to other requests as needed
  • Ensure accurate and complete vendor/customer information is maintained in the ERP
  • Other duties as assigned

You possess the following qualifications, background and abilities:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associates Degree or equivalent from a two year college or technical school preferred
  • 2+ years of transactional accounting experience
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles, regulatory standards and compliance requirements
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent data entry skills with high degree of accuracy, efficiency and confidentiality
  • Effective verbal, listening and written communication skills
  • Effective organizational, stress and time management skills
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently or as a team member
