Assistant Business Controller

The Assistant Business Controller assists in managing the accounting operations of the company, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and effective internal controls. This role supports the Business Controller in overseeing the day-to-day financial activities, preparing financial statements, and contributing to financial analysis and planning.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Reporting:

  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies.
  • Prepare and review financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

2. Accounting Operations:

  • Oversee and review accounts payable, and payroll functions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of transactions and reconciliation of accounts.
  • Assist in managing the general ledger and performing month-end and year-end closing activities.

3. Internal Controls:

  • Assist in maintaining and improving internal controls and accounting procedures.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and recommend changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

4. Financial Analysis:

  • Support financial analysis and budgeting processes.
  • Assist in preparing variance analysis, forecasts, and financial projections.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data to support decision-making.

5. Compliance and Regulation:

  •  Ensure adherence to financial regulations and standards.
  • Assist in preparing for external audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and changes in accounting regulations.

6. Team Management:

  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
  • Provide training and support to ensure the team’s professional development and adherence to best practices.
  • Coordinate with other departments to resolve accounting-related issues and improve processes.

7. Systems and Technology:

  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of accounting software and systems.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy within financial systems.
  • Support the Business Controller in evaluating and integrating new technologies and tools.

Basic Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Highest integrity.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
