We are seeking a Payroll and Benefits Manager for our North American headquarters in Austin, TX to manage Fagron North America’s Payroll and Benefits function.  This role reports to the VP, Human Resources and is a key member of the Fagron North America Human Resources team. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead payroll and benefits team by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Administer benefit programs, consult with and advise employees on eligibility for all insurance and 401(k).
  • Work with VP of Human Resources and benefits broker to secure benefits and maintain cost effective use of the benefits.
  • Coordinate yearly Open Enrollment Meetings with employees & broker. Arrange for distribution of materials from carriers and process changes with deadlines.
  • Supports management's decision making by analyzing benefit options and predicting future costs.
  • Identifies benefit options by studying programs; obtaining advice from consultants.
  • Maintains benefit records by developing recordkeeping systems; initiating new-hire benefits; recording changes.
  • Resolves employee questions and problems by interpreting benefit policies and procedures.
  • Expedites delivery of benefits by establishing and maintaining working relationships with benefit providers.
  • Reconciles benefits accounts by approving billing statements.
  • Achieves financial objectives by preparing the benefits and department operational budgets; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Lead payroll and benefits integration efforts for new divisions
  • Maintains payroll information by designing systems; directing the collection, calculation, and entering of data.
  • Updates payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job titles, and department/ division transfers.
  • Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
  • Determines payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
  • Balances the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.

Education/ Experience Requirements:

  • Degree in HR, business or related field strongly preferred
  • Minimum 7-10 years experience in the payroll and benefits field, preferably within a large multi-state manufacturing organization
  • Experience with payroll and benefits systems, ADP preferred
  • Experience leading teams, implementing best practices, continuous improvement initiatives
