Director, B&E Operations plays a pivotal role in leading multiple areas in the facility. The areas of responsibility include but may not be limited to pharmaceutical and supply repackaging operations, warehouse operations (to include receiving, put away, organization, inventory control, replenishment, and distribution operations), and facility maintenance for five buildings. This position is responsible for the execution of production schedules against the production plan and plant capacity as well as ensuring high service and quality levels in distribution to our customers. In addition, the Director of B&E works with QA and Regulatory leadership to implement new processes, add new equipment, add new products, and investigate production events and deviations. Direction to department managers and/or supervisors along with interaction among support groups is necessary. Responsible for compliance against applicable cGMP’s, regulatory requirements and company SOP’s and policies, continuous improvement and managing and reporting KPI’s to executive management.
Key responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate activities and performance of assigned staff to ensure the achievement of department operational excellence objectives and performance goals, specifically production, warehousing, distribution operations and facility maintenance.
- Develops information and compiles reports concerning scheduling, production goals, equipment and maintenance problems and other studies or reports as requested.
- Works in a team environment with department management to coordinate a production schedule to achieve required deadlines, objectives, and budgets.
- Develops and grows employees through orientation, training, establishment of objectives, communication of rules and policies, while building employee morale and motivation.
- Evaluates performance, compliance, and production of staff, makes necessary adjustments to ensure desired outcomes, and maintains records of performance.
- Maintains compliance with company policies, cGMP’s, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
- Conducts continuous review and follow-up on projects to ensure completion of assigned work on time and with the appropriate level of quality.
- Advises department management on matters relating to daily operations and makes recommendations for improvements when needed.
- Ensures adequate resources are available to repackage and distribute product (equipment, supplies, processes, and labor)
- Develops and participates in meeting production, distribution, and corporate objectives while achieving cost and quality goals as necessary.
- Develops direct reports through interactive coaching, feedback and establishment of relevant objectives while improving employee morale and work/life balance.
- Assumes responsibility for proper maintenance and cleanliness of production equipment and facilities.
- Takes necessary action to eliminate delays ensuring adherence to production and shipping schedules.

- Directs and maintains responsibility of the production department short- and long-term strategic initiatives.

Basic qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, logistics, or related field preferred or equivalent verifiable experience and performance.
- 10+ years of related experience ideally in pharmaceutical, therapeutics, medical device, implants, or other highly regulated manufacturing industries.
- Demonstrated leadership skills; 7+ years’ experience managing teams and/or in a leadership role.
- Flexibility to work any shift while remaining on call during off shift operations.
- Proven leadership skills.
- Proven communication and employee relations skills necessary.
- Proven team player with a collaborative/flexible mindset.
- Strong cGMP background and troubleshooting abilities.
- Entrepreneurial with previous start-up background.
- Effective communication (verbal and written) accompanied with solid presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, willingness to be a team player in varied capacities and ability to manage cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work effectively with all employees and external business contacts while conveying a positive, service-oriented attitude.
- Ability to maintain complete confidentiality and discretion in business relationships and exercise sound business judgment.
- Excellent computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Microsoft D365 and Master Control experience is a plus.

This position is located at our Decatur, Alabama site. Remote work is not available for this position due to the nature of the job.
